A Letter from Mark Shaw

To our community of animal healthcare providers,

At MWI, along with the rest of the AmerisourceBergen organization and so many others in healthcare, we continue to respond and prepare for the global health risk presented by COVID-19. As partners in your business, we are sharing with you the actions we are taking to keep your team, our associates and the animal health supply chain safe.

Containing the spread of COVID-19

Our partnership brings us together daily. We are proud of the relationships we have with our customers across multiple touchpoints including the call center team, e-Commerce support, field-based representatives, and the many associates that provide you with daily shipments of the pharmaceuticals and supplies your business relies on. Understanding the importance of those daily interactions, we have implemented the following remote support policies to preserve business continuity while also doing our part to contain the spread of COVID-19.

  • Office-based associates have been, or are in the final stage of, being relocated to remote work. This includes all customer service and call center associates.
  • Our field-based sales team are being asked to support their customers remotely through at March 30th. Your representative will be contacting you by phone or email to continue providing your business with the buying strategies, business insights and information that you would otherwise receive in-person.

Whether speaking to your call center representative, field representative or any associate at MWI, please know that we remain ready and available to support your business needs as always.

Operational continuity

Supply chain is a critical function, and we understand our responsibility in doing all we can to protect it. Our business continuity plans leverage our nationwide network of 13 distribution centers, 7 pharmacies and 6 Depots to ensure that we are well positioned to support the needs of our customers. We have increased the frequency of our comprehensive cleaning and sanitation protocols, we have reduced access to our facilities to essential associates only, and we have tested our system to minimize order fulfillment disruption.

Product access

In addition to securing our operational plans, our teams are in daily communications with manufacturers, monitoring inventory levels and customer purchasing behavior for any potential impact to the product supply chain. In terms of the global pharmaceutical supply chain, we continue to proactively solicit updates from manufacturers and there are minimal impacts identified at this time. As a matter of preparation, we have and will continue to place allocation-driven safeguards on products in high demand to ensure stable availability. COVID-19 is impacting many areas of everyone’s personal and professional lives. We want to assure you that we are working diligently and relentlessly as your supply chain partner to minimize disruption to your business, and to protect your associates and ours. With each evolution of this ongoing outbreak, we will activate our business continuity plans accordingly with the goal of keeping the supply chain moving and to support your needs as you continue to serve the needs of animals.

Best in health,

Mark Shaw
